To deliver high-quality teaching and learning to ensure all pupils make excellent progress, feel safe, and are inspired to achieve their full potential. The postholder will contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold its values and ethos.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum.

  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes high standards of behaviour and achievement.

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND, EAL, and high attainers.

  • Assess, record, and report on pupil progress, ensuring timely interventions where necessary.

  • Maintain strong subject knowledge and stay updated with curriculum developments.

Assessment & Tracking

  • Use a range of formative and summative assessment methods.

  • Analyse pupil data to inform planning and target setting.

  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to pupils and parents.

  • Contribute to school assessment processes, moderation, and reporting.

Classroom Management & Safeguarding

  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour using the school’s behaviour policy.

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils at all times.

  • Establish strong routines and a safe, well-organised learning environment.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and senior leaders.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers.

  • Take an active role in professional development, training, and performance management.

  • Participate in school events, duties, trips, and extracurricular activities.

  • Contribute to the overall ethos, values, and strategic priorities of the school.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching and secure strong pupil outcomes.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable

  • Experience in a specific phase (EYFS/KS1/KS2).

  • Knowledge of SEND strategies and effective differentiation.

  • Willingness to lead a subject area.

  • Experience with phonics programmes (e.g., Read Write Inc, Little Wandle).
